Beethoven’s “Tempest”, discreetly, (because it is expressed with single notes rather than with loud phrases) is like the anticipated memory of the final tempest, which will bring the world to its origin, to its eternal judgment. A little of this impetuous wind, of the tempest that will bring Christ to reveal himself definitively to all men and to the whole world, comes in every time of trial, to make us reflect on whether or not life is something serious. The trials that inevitably come in life are storms.
